Meet Dr. Kobil

Stephanie Kobil, DMD

Dr. Kobil started life as a city girl.  Born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA.  She grew up in Squirrel Hill, graduated from Taylor Alderdice High School and then attended The University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh PA, earning her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology.  Dr. Kobil continued her education at The University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, graduating in 1986 with a dental degree.  She then chose to extend her training and completed a two year residency program, also at The University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, receiving her specialty license in Pediatric Dentistry in 1988.

Dr. Kobil has been practicing dentistry for over 25 years and is a member of the following professional organizations:  American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Dental Association, Pennsylvania Dental Association, Dental Society of Western PA, Western PA Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, Butler County Dental Society, and the Academy of Sports Dentistry.

Dr. Kobil is a firm believer in maintaining her skills through continuing education and training. In addition to having her own practice, she is currently employed part-time at the University Of Pittsburgh School Of Dental Medicine, as an Associate Clinical Professor in their pediatric dental clinic.  She likes helping and teaching young dental students and truly enjoys the hands on experience of sharing her knowledge and skills with those eager to learn.

Dr. Kobil’s core philosophy is straight forward and simple; to make your child feel comfortable, happy and safe, while at the same time, providing the best possible quality of dental care available.  Another goal is to develop a trust and bond between child and doctor.  This starts at the top with Dr. Kobil and transcends to all her office staff as well.  They believe in treating your child the same way they would treat their own children; with love, care and compassion. We relate to the child on ‘the child’s level.’   Dr. Kobil has been seen many times joking with, singing to and just having fun with the kids.  She is passionate about making children and teens feel comfortable and helping them to eliminate any fears that they may have about going to the dentist.  Being a pediatric dentist allows her to keep kids healthy and pain free.  Dr. Kobil’s biggest personal reward is when she can take a scared, crying and difficult child and transform them into happy, smiling patient. This child is now trusting of the dentist and not afraid to come back to the office.

Dr. Kobil has very strong ties in the Butler community as she is extremely active with many local charities and organizations. She is on the Board of Directors for Butler Little Theatre and Community Care Connections.  One of Dr. Kobil’s major community accomplishments was creating a Children’s Dental Hygiene Program for very young children. Dr. Kobil and her staff, present a 45 minute dental program which involves visiting and educating many elementary schools, pre-schools and daycares on proper dental and oral health care.  For over 15 years now, this program has reached a dozen or more schools and close to 500 students and young children each spring for Children’s Dental Health Month.  Dr.Kobil is also a dental examiner for the Butler Area School District.
